UC Davis Bioinformatics Core,

Due to COVID-19, this workshop will be offered online, over Zoom and Slack.

This workshop will cover the basic computational and statistical concepts needed before performing bioinformatics analysis.

The course will include experimental data organization, basic command line and high performance computing concepts, how to install software, use help, run applications, and the basics of building scripts and pipelines. Also covered will be basic R programming, working with data tables and generating figures, basic statistical concepts, and statistical model building. There are no prerequisites for this workshop other than an interest in bioinformatics! The workshop will run from 9am to 5:00pm each day.

Participants must provide their own computers to use, which should have a recent version of R, Rstudio, and Java installed, and an application that allows them to ssh into a server (e.g. Bash for Windows, or Terminal for Apple), as well as a strong internet connection.

The registration fee for the entire workshop is $600 for UC and UC affiliates, $900 for other academic or non-profit participants and $1,200 for other participants. We accept credit cards, as well as UC Davis recharge accounts, for payment. We are pleased to be able to offer three group pricing bundle options for labs with multiple registrants: 15% off registration for groups of 3-5, 25% off registration for groups of 6-10, and custom instructional packages for groups larger than 10. If you are interested in one of these pricing options, please contact us at for a custom coupon code.
