Description

Learn about PostGIS, a powerful, open-source extension to the PostgreSQL database, by exploring the tutorials available from CrunchyData under the guidance of an experienced instructor.

Learning Objectives

Learn the basics of a spatial database, how to query data, and understand possible applications of this tool.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course, but familiarity with spatial data, spatial databases, and SQL is a plus. DataLab's workshops, "Intro to SQL for Querying Databases" https://github.com/MicheleTobias/Workshop-SQL and "Spatial SQL" https://github.com/MicheleTobias/Spatial_SQL are good preparation for this workshop if you have no previous background.

Software

CrunchyData tutorials run through your web browser, no additional software is required.
