Learn about PostGIS, a powerful, open-source extension to the PostgreSQL database, by exploring the tutorials available from CrunchyData under the guidance of an experienced instructor.

Learning Objectives

Learn the basics of a spatial database, how to query data, and understand possible applications of this tool.

There are no prerequisites for this course, but familiarity with spatial data, spatial databases, and SQL is a plus. DataLab's workshops, "Intro to SQL for Querying Databases" https://github.com/MicheleTobias/Workshop-SQL and "Spatial SQL" https://github.com/MicheleTobias/Spatial_SQL are good preparation for this workshop if you have no previous background.

CrunchyData tutorials run through your web browser, no additional software is required.

Instructor: Steve Pousty

Instructor Bio

Formerly the Director of Development Relations at CruncyData, Steve Pousty works as a Developer Experience Engineer for VMware Tanzu.
