Description
Learn how to create and customize professional-quality, interactive maps in R shiny. Allow users to explore data, provide both spatial and non-spatial inputs, and receive personalized feedback.
Learning Objectives
o Create a local R shiny app with an interactive map
o Add customized data to an interactive map
o Collect user input (spatial and non-spatial)
o Give feedback to user based on combined data and user inputs.
Prerequisites
o Introductory knowledge of R
o Introductory knowledge of spatial data
Software
R (version 4.1.0 or newer) and R Studio. Download R at https://cran.r-project.org/ and R Studio at https://www.rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download/
Instructor: Taylor Nelsen
Instructor Bio
Taylor Nelsen is an Assistant Specialist in the Grain Cropping Systems lab in the Department of Plant Sciences at UC Davis. Her research and extension efforts focus on nitrogen management, plant phenotyping, and variety selection using traditional agronomic methods in conjunction with new technologies such as drones, satellites, and web-based decision support tools.
