Description

Learning to use ArcGIS Online (AGOL) can be frustrating. In this workshop, you will learn how to get started with an account in ArcGIS Online for Organizations, and how to understand and work with data and apps within AGOL. There will be several demonstrations of how to get started, and a variety of self-paced training options presented to cover those with different levels of experience and areas of interest.

Learning Objectives

Know how to get started with AGOL
Understand the difference between AGOL and desktop GIS
Learn how to gain access to different applications
Find numerous self-paced learning opportunities that are free and easily accessible.

Prerequisites

A general understanding of GIS concepts and software is preferred but not necessary.

Software

For participants who have never worked with ArcGIS Online before, at least an hour before the workshop, UC Davis affiliated participants should log in to ago.ucdavis.edu to activate their ArcGIS online account to allow the system time to process their account (this usually takes about 15 minutes, so starting the process before the workshop will ensure you have access). This is free to UC Davis affiliates. Non-UC Davis participants will need to provide their own ArcGIS online license.
