Description

ArcGIS Field Maps is one of the Esri mobile apps that combines data collection, map viewing, and location tracking capabilities into a single app that’s easy to use and simple to deploy. You may have used ArcGIS Collector before, but did you know that it’s now being replaced by the much enhanced ArcGIS Field Maps app? This 2-hour workshop introduces ArcGIS Field Maps, discusses its capabilities and provides an exercise to try it for yourself.

Learning Objectives

Understand how ArcGIS Online applications are accessed
Learn how to create basic Field Maps and collect data
Gain hands-on experience using ArcGIS Field Maps so you can then apply it to your own work.

Prerequisites

A basic understanding of GIS, preferably Esri software, is preferred but not necessary. If you are new to ArcGIS Online, it is highly recommended that you attend the workshop the week before (10/26/2021).

Software

For participants who have never worked with ArcGIS Online before, at least an hour before the workshop, UC Davis affiliated participants should log in to ago.ucdavis.edu to activate their ArcGIS online account to allow the system time to process their account (this usually takes about 15 minutes, so starting the process before the workshop will ensure you have access). This is free to UC Davis affiliates. Non-UC Davis participants will need to provide their own ArcGIS online license.
