Description: This presentation will discuss how the UC Davis Tactile Audio Map was created and what the capabilities of the map are, as well as accessibility in the field of mapping.    

Learning Objectives: Participants will learn about accessibility for presenting geographic data and some ways to address these issues.

Instructors' Biographies:

Joshua Hori is the Accessible Technology Coordinator at UC Davis, working within Information Education Technology and Academic Technology Services. Working with Disability Management Services to provide assistive technologies to staff and faculty, after 15+ years providing technology to students in the Student Disability Center.

Steve Landau is the founder of TouchGraphics, a company that provides tactile capabilities to STEM and campus/building maps. UC Davis has purchased braille STEM materials which had tactile and audio capabilities and worked with the vendor to create a unique tactile map with audio and caption. The map can be found in the MU, housed within the SDC drop in area.
