Description

This workshop provides an overview of the utility and base SQL commands for working with data in a relational database. We’ll focus on querying data to get to know a database and answer questions, and combining data from separate tables.

Prerequisites

Learners should attend the "Introduction to databases and data storage technologies" workshop. No prior programming experience is necessary. Bring your laptop with https://sqlitestudio.pl/ installed and running.

Before coming to the workshop, please download the file '2022-04-04_intro-sql.zip' from https://bit.ly/38h1T8e and unzip the file. It contains a data set and script that will be used during the workshop.

Instructor: Nicholas Alonzo        

Nicholas Alonzo received his B.S. in Applied Statistics with an emphasis in Computer Science from UC Davis. He currently serves as the Data Analytics and Programmer Manager for OLE Health, a non-profit community health center. He is passionate about helping others and is why he started Diversify Data Science, a social enterprise aimed to support underrepresented communities in data science succeed in their careers. His personal interests include social justice, mentorship, and pedagogy.
