Learn and practice how to talk directly to your computer via command line. The shell is a very powerful tool for using scientific software and working with large data sets. It is primarily used to manage files and run programs, and it allows for automation of repetitive tasks. This workshop is a prerequisite for DataLab’s workshops on Introduction to Version Control with Git and Reproducible Research for Teams with GitHub.

No prior coding experience is necessary. All participants will need a computer with a shell scripting program (terminal, bash, etc.) installed, and the latest version of Zoom. An asynchronous module will be provided to registered learners to read through prior to the workshop.

Registration closes on: Feb. 10, 2021
